Industry Track

About

The CBSoft 2023 Industry Track fosters cooperation between academia, the market, and the government with lectures, articles, and discussions. It aims to bring together professionals from the three sectors to share their knowledge and experiences with the community.
It is an excellent opportunity to establish cooperative relationships between academic and professional communities. It is also an opportunity to establish applied research relationships, fostering market development and innovation through technology transfer.

Call for Presentations (Industry Talks)

The track is open to business professionals who want to share their theoretical and technological knowledge and jointly identify possibilities in developing collaborative and research networks in the relationship between academia and companies.
Companies will be invited to give lectures, but submissions of proposals for presentations on practical experiences with the development of open-source platforms, systems, tools, applications, and products are also welcome, which describe market challenges (open problems) and practical solutions in the industry.
Examples of topics of interest include - but are not limited to:
  • Application of agile methods customized by the industry

  • Processes, techniques, and methods for Software Development
  • Microservices and Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA)

Preparing the Submission

Authors must prepare two documents in PDF format:
  • Cover Sheet (1 page) – free format;
  • Presentation Summary (minimum of 1 page and maximum of 4 pages);
  • The submission of the two documents will be exclusively electronic through the JEMS system. Submissions can be written in English or Portuguese.
Cover Sheet (1 page)
  • Title: clear, concise title that captures the essence of the work;
  • Authors: name(s) of the author(s), the organization to which they are linked, contact e-mail;
  • Audience: type of professional who would most benefit from the presentation, for example, more or less experienced developers, project managers, requirements analysts, software architects, testers, support analysts, teachers, researchers, etc., in addition to possibilities for academic-company cooperation;
  • Brief biography of authors: education, professional experience, and current affiliation for each author.
Extended Presentation Abstract (minimum of 1 page and maximum of 4 pages)
Extended abstracts must contain the following elements, using the SBC Article Publishing Template:
  • Abstract and Summary;
  • Presentation Report containing:
    • Relevance, impact, and benefits of the presentation to the software industry;
    • For presentations that talk about challenges, contain clarity in the description of the problem, including motivation, context, and difficulties;
    • For presentations that discuss solutions for the market, description of the applicability of the solution and success indicators (eg proof of concept, prototype, etc.); and
  • Bibliographic References: At least 3 bibliographic references.
Presentation proposals will be reviewed and selected by the CBSoft 2023 Industry Track Technical Committee, and approved submissions will have their Abstracts published in the CBSoft 2023 extended proceedings at SBC Open Library (SOL).
At least one author of each selected work must register for CBSoft 2023 to participate in the event.

Sending the Final Version

Final versions of accepted articles must be from 1 to 4 pages, and it is not necessary to include the cover page. The article must follow the SBC Article Publishing Model available at this link. The work should be submitted through the JEMS system.
Another mandatory element is the SBC Article Publishing Authorization Term, which must be signed by one of the authors of each accepted article. It is also necessary to complete the electronic metadata collection form for each accepted work.
